![]() I do have a few issues with the design of some of them, however, as Samorost 3 tends to fall back far too frequently on memorization-based challenges rather than straight up mind-benders that make you sit down and activate parts of your brain you never even knew existed. Because of this that I never felt frustrated or enraged in my 5 hours with Samorost 3, even though not a single world of spoken dialogue ever explained how the puzzles work. They don't feel like an obstacle you need to pass in order to continue on with the story, they are instead a living, breathing part of it. The reason I include Samorost 3 among that rather stellar group is because it manages to weave its puzzles in to the environment and the world itself. This exclusive company contains games such as: The Secret of Monkey Island, Day of the Tentacle, Machinarium, Deponia, and now Samorost 3. Out of all the games I've puzzled my way through, I can only really say a couple were genuinely fun to me, from the beginning to the very end. The TL,DR: if you buy this game, you're playing it with Hitler.I never was much of a point & click fan, mostly because their convoluted, alien logic tends to clash heavily with my "keep it simple" style of thinking that was beat in to me through years of programming courses. That doesn't stop me from giving the genre a try every so often, but despite my best efforts I frequently either resort to a walkthrough or just get frustrated enough to quit entirely. ![]() They also don't expect to have their money go to prop up neo-nazis abroad. If a person pays money for a game, they don't expect to be spammed with all sorts of unrelated messaging after the fact. But these facts are inconvenient to certain political forces in the West, so we're supposed to ignore these things and pretend that the Ukraine is the "good guy", and that Russia is the "bad guy" for finally doing something about this sickening, anti-human regime. The 1941-1944 period, when the Ukraine was under the Third Reich's occupation, is now considered the dawn of Ukrainian statehood / independence, and unsurprisingly, Ukrainian nationalists have a penchant for nazi symbolism - when the Azov battalion neo-nazis surrendered to the Russians in Mariupol, we saw video of hundreds of guys tattooed with swastikas, wolf's hooks, black suns, portraits of Hitler, and other unambiguous nazi regalia surrendering to the Russian army. Today's (post-2014) Ukrainian national mythology holds Bandera, who, to reiterate, was Hitler's henchman in the nazi-occupied areas of the Ukraine, in the highest esteem. Polish and Hungarian societies still hold a grudge against modern-day Ukrainian nationalists for the exceedingly-vicious barbarism these "people" exhibited against women, elderly, and even infants en-masse. A minor, but notable part of the Ukrainian population in the 1940s who were unhappy with the Soviet Union sided with Hitler's regime, and the nazis fostered ties with them, formed SS penal divisions made up of Ukranian nationals, and had them commit sickening atrocities against civilian populations to terrify the locals. When the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic was invaded by Hitler's forces in World War II, Bandera became the leader of the collaborationists and servants of the nazis. The man regarded as the "George Washington" of the modern-day Ukraine was named Stepan Bandera. ![]() At that time, the actual democratically-elected and legitimate president of the country was overthrown, the constitution trampled, and the most radical elements were ushered into power in the Ukraine - literal neo-nazis.Ī bit of history. Most Westerners are eminently ignorant of Eastern-European / Soviet history, and don't realize that the current Ukrainian regime is the product of a "color revolution" which was organized by the US / NATO member states in 2014. Since the Russian operation in the Ukraine started last year, this company (like many others) has gone into overdrive, feeding its customers heavy-handed propaganda and bragging about how it's "supporting the Ukraine" with profits from its games. But since the devs themselves can't avoid moralistic grandstanding, and insist on shoveling their political bias into their audience's mouths, I will indulge in a little bit of push-back. I would love to evaluate the game's merits separately from the developers' politics. Strongly recommend AGAINST buying this garbage game.
